"There is no truth in photography"
I was told this by one of my professors at Fullerton College in 2010. This affected my view of not just photography, but art in general. I became skeptical of the work and intentions of different artists, believing they had some underlying agenda in their work. I held this in my heart for a long time
Now, years later, I believe I have been interpreting this incorrectly. Believing there's no truth in the ideas, emotions, or passions other people put into their work wasn't the right approach. The truth in photography, or any art, lies within the meaning and personal exposition we put behind it. It's how we approach our subjects, how we edit our work, and the moments we capture. These aspects help us understand our own emotions and beliefs.
No one person is the same, nor is a photograph. I don't approach a project expecting anything like the last. I don't think any piece of art is truly finished, it simply reflects the state of mind and emotion we felt at the time of its submission.
We change as the world changes and I find myself constantly practicing in new ways as I grow older. My list of experiences grows each year and I feel so grateful to have found something that brings so much joy to my life. That joy is my truth.
What is your truth?
services
I offer professional photography services for families, engagements, graduations, portraits, and more. These services are backed by years of experience in light mastering, editing, and equipment.
wildlife
Wildlife photography is a passion of mine. Being humbled in their element, from facing a grizzly or simply observing hummingbirds zoom by, is my place of most content. I feel privileged visiting their habitats.
landscape
With wildlife exploring comes an abundance of incredible landscapes. In silent sunrises and restless nights I try to capture a glimpse of the immeasurable beauty in the world.
